It’s commencement season and graduates everywhere are celebrating their years of hard work—as well they should! No matter what you’re graduating from, completing a course of study is a huge achievement and a chance to reflect on what you’ve learned.
I recently asked you and your fellow readers what you would say to this year’s graduates as they get ready to start a new chapter in their lives.
Listen up grads, here are our words of advice and encouragement:
“Focus on developing a balance in your lives. Spend time reflecting on your goals avoiding the pitfalls that social media may drive you toward. We are all individuals on this beautiful planet and all have amazing gifts to share with the world. Remember you are enough as you are.”
“Don’t waste time on what others say or think about you. Just focus on being the better person and keeping your side of the street clean. Oh yeah one last thing, always remember to love yourself. You’re worth it.”
“Keep voting and live up to your full potential. Do not take this time for granted. Time is the most valuable thing we have and make sure you use this time to become the best you. Reach the goals you set for yourself and never listen to outside noise. Keep pushing and I will see you on the flip side.”
“To the graduates of 2024, my advice to you would be to follow your heart and mind. Learn to love and trust yourself, it will never steer you wrong. You will explore what you like and don’t like, make mistakes, but make sure you remember to never dim your light for anyone. As long as you focus on yourself, you will learn what you want and don’t want, and then you’ll be able to stand 10 toes down on those decisions and create healthy boundaries with anything that disrupts your plan for yourself, anything that hinders you from growing. Congratulations and GO BE GREAT!!!”
“Use your head. Vote for those who can deliver their promises. Live within your means. Do not forget today while concentrating about your past or worrying about tomorrow. Be kind to everyone.”
“Congratulations! Go out into the world and be the best version of yourself you can create. The world needs your authentic self, that is the reason the Universe created only one of you; to be anything less would be a disservice to yourself and to all of humanity.”
“Don’t limit yourselves to your parents’ thinking. Approach all things in life with an open mind. I would say that we have enough division in the world, but especially in this country and that your generation can show the world what unity can do. Being kind and respectful no matter our differences can go a long way with getting problems resolved.”
“Life is short, so make sure you work in your passion. Save as much you can so you may purchase a home one day. Make sure you save in your 401k, especially if the company matches it! Be kind to everyone, because one day you may need someone.”
“Today is a new beginning. Stand up and be proud that you made it through. Join the world in working to make the world a more beautiful and inclusive place. We survived a pandemic, now let’s help each other live. Be unique. Be bold. We only have one world. Treat her with care. <3”
Thanks to everyone who shared advice for the Class of 2024!
Share in the comments: What was the best advice you received as a graduate or young person starting a new chapter?

The best advice I have is to not focus on the negative or the positive, keep moving foreward even if it seems like karma (for both good and bad) is taking too long. Always try to do good for the good and not for something in return and to love whenever possible because some people don’t ever get the chance.
Life is unexpected and it may take you to unexpected places. Take it one day at a time. There will be good and bad days after your graduation. Don’t take it so seriously. Congrats 2024!
No one knows you better than you. Trust yourself, say less and follow your process. You’ve got this.
Always go for your dreams nothing is out of your reach if you really want it bad enough.
Keep your friends around you people that want to help you thrive and do better every day. Don’t let negative or jealous people get in your way.
Never forget where you came from and give a helping hand whenever possible.
Do what makes YOU happy! Trying to make everyone else happy is impossible, stressful, and exhausting. Learn to say No when you don’t want to do something, learn to say yes to your fears, conquer them it’s the best feeling!
Life is very short, don’t spend it at a job that would replace you tomorrow, spend life with people who love you.
Find what makes you happy! <3
There’s two types of people in this world: has nothing to do with sex, race, religion, or political affiliation…. you’re either a good person or not….which one are you?
Congratulations to the graduates of 2024,What i want to tell you is that the World’s four walls are bigger than that of the campus, so equipped with all the knowledge exploire and last thing i want to say is there is a paradox called the paradox of the jewel polisher, the cutting and grinding does nothing but reveals the qualities within.Good Luck
Here’s my top advice for starting a new chapter in life:
1. Embrace uncertainty and be open to change: As you enter this new chapter, you’ll face unknowns and uncertainties. Instead of fearing them, use them as opportunities to learn and grow. Stay open-minded, adaptable, and willing to pivot when needed.
2. Set clear goals and priorities: Define what you want to achieve in this new chapter. Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. Prioritize your objectives and focus on the most important ones first.
3. Develop a growth mindset: Believe that your abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. Embrace challenges, learn from failures, and cultivate resilience.
4. Focus on relationships and community: Building strong connections with others can bring joy, support, and a sense of belonging. Nurture your relationships with family, friends, and colleagues, and be willing to make new connections.
5. Practice self-care and self-reflection: Starting a new chapter can be overwhelming. Make time for self-care activities like exercise, meditation, or hobbies that bring you joy. Regularly reflect on your values, goals, and progress to ensure you’re aligned with your aspirations.
6. Be patient and kind to yourself: Remember that it’s okay to make mistakes or not have all the answers. Be patient with yourself as you navigate this new chapter, and treat yourself with kindness and compassion.
7. Find meaning and purpose: As you begin this new chapter, reflect on what gives you purpose and meaning. Pursue activities that align with your values and passions, and find ways to make a positive impact on the world.
8. Stay curious and keep learning: The world is constantly evolving, and it’s essential to stay curious and continue learning. Seek out new experiences, knowledge, and skills to stay adaptable and ahead of the curve.
9. Celebrate small wins: Celebrate your small victories along the way to build momentum and confidence. This will help you stay motivated and encouraged as you navigate this new chapter.
10. Embrace the journey: Starting a new chapter is a journey, not a destination. Focus on the process, rather than the end result. Enjoy the journey, learn from it, and find ways to make it meaningful.
I hope these tips inspire the graduating class as they embark on this new chapter in their lives!
“Life, much like flying, reminds us that the runway behind us is irrelevant to our current journey. It’s the path ahead that counts. Every moment is an opportunity to accelerate towards new horizons, and what’s passed is out of our reach, a mere memory. So, focus on the present, make the most of the ‘runway’ you have left, and soar into the future with confidence and purpose. Remember, it’s not about the distance behind us, but the adventures that lie ahead.”
This message encapsulates the essence of moving forward and not dwelling on the past, but rather using the present to create a better future. It’s a powerful metaphor for encouraging someone to seize the moment and make the most of their opportunities.
Godspeed!!!
The best advice I have is keep moving forward, don’t focus on the negative or positive keep moving forward and don’t ever seek revenge, karma is real and sometimes takes a while for both the good and bad. Love whenever you get a chance, done people don’t ever get it.
One quote I adore, and I want to share today with you. ” Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever” Mahatma Gandhi.
Listen to your parents. They know best. My son learned the hard way.
Remember Your Family, Have Faith, & Go For It!!!
Believe in yourself. Be kind to yourself.love yourself.
Pay yourself first, make a monthly budget and stick to it as you can. Plan for a small amount in savings…the earlier you start with a small amount in savings and keep to it…the more interest adds to it over the years…you’d be amazed at the difference putting $25 dollars in savings × 30 years, vs $100 x 20 years delayed by 10 years…it’s huge! Also put money away for travel…even if that doesn’t maybe seem important now, someday it will be…especially if it’s with a loved one or your children.
Invest at least 10% of your income into a 401(k)… It’s free tax dollars so you won’t even feel it coming out of your paycheck. Up your contributions as your monthly income goes up! I did this and I was able to retire at 62!
Like some always put God first in all things be yourself no matter what!!!
Remember that you are very important part of this world. And you need to try your best to forgive and forget about what others think. Because ir will come back around what you do. Good or bad. And will be what you have to deal with when try to either Remember or forget. So please try to be your best as possible. And be kind. Love ❣️
Congrats to you a 2024 graduate! You have succeeded and now you prepare for College. Be yourself. Do what you think is best and if you upset someone because you say NO, I will Never use drugs, alcohol or anything else to change me and my way of life. I am in this for the foreseeable future! Whether it is a 4 year Bachelor or a 5 year Masters program. I am ME and any mistakes or awards that happen to/for me is what I have learned. Set your goals stick to your guns and do whatever it takes to reach your goals. If you are having trouble with a course go to the professor explain the problem or question. They are learned people, they want you to succeed so don’t be shy get help right away. That way you won’t drowned in a class and then have to take it over or deal with a bad grade or both. I know several professors who really want to know if someone doesn’t understand something. As one said decades before the only STUPID Question is the one you didn’t ASK. Good luck for your future America needs you to succeed.
There are No limitations, except for the ones you put on yourself. NEVER LIMIT YOU,
GO has HIGH as the SKY
and. as FAR as the STARS!!
Congratulations Graduates you Made it!🥂🎓🎓🎓🎓🎓
The rear view window is smaller than the front window, for a reason!
“As you continue to move forward the things in you rear view will become smaller as you continue on your journey!
Congratulations Graduates YOU DID IT! 🎓🎓🎓🎓🎓
Congratulations Graduates of 2024,I know you have a lot of ambition coursing through your veins,a lot of voices running through your brains, but take it slow and be true to thyself on the direction that’s meant for you.Yes success is what you are aiming for,and right now is when you want it,but take heed to be slow in the decision making.Acquire 3 people to consult with,GOD,your parent,or parents, also one close friend, and you will find that your path will be illuminated before your eyes.Be Blessed in all you do,and everything that you desire will be yours, again Congratulations class of 2024.
There will be days you love your work. There will be days you despise work. But mostly do work that is important to you!
But remember, without a healthy, vibrant planet, none of us will survive. Care for it, love it and it will sustain the ones you love!
Things is, for when you graduate, please, parents, don’t force your kids to be what you want them to be, let them be who they are, because their dreams are not your dreams is becoming successful.
Congratulations be all you can be ,Use your own judgement,You csn get advise if you need it. Be great at whatever you do.
I have read each comment and honestly can’t think of anything to add. I love the inclusion, and to not let anyone or anything change you. Follow your heart, and what you know is right. There has been so much divisiveness in the last 7 or 8 years, it is painful to see. We need to help, and care for our fellow mankind. It is the only way we can find joy.
Work hard for what but remember to play sometimes too. Life is about balance! Keep your circle small. Remember that quality is more important than quantity. Strive to always be the best you can be but to not ever look down on others. Stay humble always and always remember to always be kind to others. It matters! Lastly, have faith and never ever let go of God’s hand
Just say thank god u made it
FELLOW GRADUATES OF 2024
BE ALL YOU CAN BE BUT DON’T BE TOO QUICK TO GET INTO THINGS THAT YOU DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT BUT ALWAYS STRIVE TO BE THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO AND REACH FOR THE STARS BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW HOW FAR YOU CAN GO IN LIFE. THERE IS NO LIMIT TO HOW FAR YOU CAN GO YOU’RE ONLY LIMITED TO HOW FAR YOU ALLOW YOUR MIND TO THINK BE CREATIVE KEEP GOD FIRST AND THERE ARE NO LIMITS TO YOUR THOUGHTS AND IMAGINATION ALWAYS HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND JUST GO FOR WHAT YOU KNOW YOU GOT TO LOVE YOURSELF BEFORE YOU CAN LOVE OTHERS IF SOMEONE TREATS YOU BAD THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK. AND JUST SAY TO YOURSELF OR YOU MIGHT WANT TO TELL BASICALLY ALL I’M SAYING THOUGH IS WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO DO WHEN YOU GO OUT AND FACE THE REAL WORLD BE PREPARED IF WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO DO DO YOUR RESEARCH WHATEVER CAREER YOU TAKE ON DO YOUR RESEARCH TO MAKE SURE IT’S SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO BUT YOU ARE ONLY LIMITED TO HOW FAR YOU ALLOW YOUR MIND TO THINK ANYWAY ONCE AGAIN I JUST WANT TO SAY CONGRATULATIONS ON GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL MAY GOD BE WITH YOU STAY BLESSED
The best advice I received for starting a new chapter in life was to embrace change with an open mind and a positive attitude. This involves being flexible, staying curious, and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. Additionally, setting clear goals, maintaining a supportive network of friends and family, and practicing self-care are crucial for navigating transitions successfully.
My advice to graduates:
Follow after God. Do not leave Him out of the details. Copy no one else’s journey. Depend on the Lord to order your steps. Embrace the plan He has for YOU. That will take much prayer and dependence on Him.
Go forth with the mindset of:
Not my will but Your will be done. Amen.
Be true to yourself it’s no one else’s life but your .. not your parents not ur friends but urs. Follow ur heart but use ur brains .Always listen to that gut instinked I every situation.if it feels off then don’t do it don’t go just don’t uno . Know u have to life life on life’s terms . Don’t numb or run from ur feelings because in the end when ur done numbing or running those feelings are still there. Those whove heard ur just like ur father or mother or u will never end up blah blah … Tell those people to shut up u are u and U can go as fadoed r in this life that u want DNA is not the end of ur storie . It’s your storie write it how u want to it’s not ending here remember that . The world is here go out there and kick it’s Ass .CONGRATES GRADS U DID IT ENJOY IT .
Once you get a job SAVE AT LEAST 10%. No matter what!!!!
Time is not to be wasted! Do your very best in everything you do!!! Do Not let anything discourage you and take you away from your goals. We know life happens kinda like they say _____ happens. It’s easy to get in that mode and forget about your dreams and goals. Don’t waste your time you only get one chance with time when it’s gone it’s gone! Know that you can do anything you set your mind too!!! You are important, never forget that! Treat yourself good!
Don’t limit yourself. Remember try new things, experiment. The things you try now will be memories later in life. Have fun now. Don’t put off your goals. Work hard but save time for yourself. Make new friends from every walk of life. You will find something in common and maybe even learn something new. Save some money for the future. Take care of your health.
For ALL Graduates first I say Congrats!! YOU DID IT!!! As for best advice I would say learn to get comfotable being uncomfortable because that is where true personal growth begins. Challenge yourself to DARE TO DO instead of watching. Never forget your network is directly connected to your networth! Its called human resouces and its priceless in life. Lastly take time to unwind. Set goals yet understand goals are just a framework not a fixed position or timeline to quantify success. True success is when you love you and are happy being at peace with yourself! Peace
Stay true to you!
My advice to you is to achieve a goal and achieve everything that comes to your mind. Do not wait for someone to achieve your goal or dream. If a dream and goal is broken, here your ambition for success will be broken as well. Be strong and may all your wishes come true.
Just Keep Going, Even if you think you’re not going anywhere you actually are, so just keep going, and don’t look back on what could of been different because it wasn’t different so Keep Going!!!
BEFORE you take even one step into the future… ASK GOD what His plan is for you and your future.
But WAIT!!!
Literally, WAIT!!! You MUST WAIT for His reply.
The steps of a righteous man AND woman are directed by God.
WATCH and THEN you will SEE the steps and the way they are leading you. THEN you will know the WILL of GOD for you and your future!!!
ALL THE GLORY GOES TO GOD ALMIGHTU!!!!!!!
The best advice I can give to all the graduating classes of this year in the different schools is when you head off to college or if it’s not college is not for you you head off to work just remember you should always buy yourself one small thing every paycheck my thing after high school was Lifesavers I always bought a roll Lifesavers when I got paid because it may feel like I wasn’t Depriving myself of a little luxury high school was a breeze college difficult take your time get tutoring if you need it and don’t go to the main to college campus and only be there just to enjoy campus life and then turn around and not go back next year and everybody also needs to know You don’t always know what you wanna be when you grow up think that good luck
When starting out from what ever home life you had is to remember that your fate is not based on your parents but you alone. You are an individual with a open mind wanting to explore yourself on your likes and dislikes. Remember when you fail, in which all adults do, is to fall forward and get back up and dust yourself off and straighten your king/queen crown of yours and learn from your mistakes and do better, after all we are all human beings and we are not all perfect. Always take time out for your loved ones because tomorrow is never promised. Live life to the fullest and never regret anything in your life.
Get a job. Show up on time. Don’t act like your boss is your mom…he’s not. Do the work you signed up for with a good attitude. They are not paying you to just show up and fill a space. Be proactive and productive.
“To thine own self be true.” This was the best advice I was given when I graduated from high school. It has resonated throughout my life and helped me become the person I am today
My advice is to trust God and the plans he has for you. Life is a blessing from God. Always listen to your intuition. If something doesn’t feel right, listen to that feeling. You must realize how powerful and unstoppable you are with God by your side. There is nothing you can’t do! Our capabilities are so much more than we realize. Always Always be good to others. Love them as God loves you. Be happy and know that you are protected and loved
Give yourself time to figure out what you want . Try new things and be open to experiences you never thought you would try . Be good to yourself and don’t commit to anyone unless you are willing to commit to your well being first . It’s not being selfish but it’s being thoughtful to yourself so that you can be there for others later . Once you know what you want , set a goal for yourself and don’t stop until you reach it . There will be another goal waiting for you when you are finished. Life takes unexpected twists and turns for which you can never fully prepare . This is your life , so live it for yourself and not someone else.
Expect the unexpected! You never end up QUITE were you saw yourself, and yet there couldn’t be a better path for you in life than the one you’re on. Enjoy yourself, and don’t try to change the past!
Allow yourself to be proud, soak up the joy, and really think about what your next step is. Don’t let yourself be pushed into anything that doesn’t feel totally right for you. You have your whole life to explore with full freedom, and that starts now!
Remember that life is LONG, you don’t have to do or accomplish everything at once. Take your time <3
