It’s commencement season and graduates everywhere are celebrating their years of hard work—as well they should! No matter what you’re graduating from, completing a course of study is a huge achievement and a chance to reflect on what you’ve learned.
I recently asked you and your fellow readers what you would say to this year’s graduates as they get ready to start a new chapter in their lives.
Listen up grads, here are our words of advice and encouragement:
“Focus on developing a balance in your lives. Spend time reflecting on your goals avoiding the pitfalls that social media may drive you toward. We are all individuals on this beautiful planet and all have amazing gifts to share with the world. Remember you are enough as you are.”
“Don’t waste time on what others say or think about you. Just focus on being the better person and keeping your side of the street clean. Oh yeah one last thing, always remember to love yourself. You’re worth it.”
“Keep voting and live up to your full potential. Do not take this time for granted. Time is the most valuable thing we have and make sure you use this time to become the best you. Reach the goals you set for yourself and never listen to outside noise. Keep pushing and I will see you on the flip side.”
“To the graduates of 2024, my advice to you would be to follow your heart and mind. Learn to love and trust yourself, it will never steer you wrong. You will explore what you like and don’t like, make mistakes, but make sure you remember to never dim your light for anyone. As long as you focus on yourself, you will learn what you want and don’t want, and then you’ll be able to stand 10 toes down on those decisions and create healthy boundaries with anything that disrupts your plan for yourself, anything that hinders you from growing. Congratulations and GO BE GREAT!!!”
“Use your head. Vote for those who can deliver their promises. Live within your means. Do not forget today while concentrating about your past or worrying about tomorrow. Be kind to everyone.”
“Congratulations! Go out into the world and be the best version of yourself you can create. The world needs your authentic self, that is the reason the Universe created only one of you; to be anything less would be a disservice to yourself and to all of humanity.”
“Don’t limit yourselves to your parents’ thinking. Approach all things in life with an open mind. I would say that we have enough division in the world, but especially in this country and that your generation can show the world what unity can do. Being kind and respectful no matter our differences can go a long way with getting problems resolved.”
“Life is short, so make sure you work in your passion. Save as much you can so you may purchase a home one day. Make sure you save in your 401k, especially if the company matches it! Be kind to everyone, because one day you may need someone.”
“Today is a new beginning. Stand up and be proud that you made it through. Join the world in working to make the world a more beautiful and inclusive place. We survived a pandemic, now let’s help each other live. Be unique. Be bold. We only have one world. Treat her with care. <3”
Thanks to everyone who shared advice for the Class of 2024!
Share in the comments: What was the best advice you received as a graduate or young person starting a new chapter?

Every single answer comes from within. Meditate don’t self-medicate. Everything you desire can be yours if you set your sails to catch the winds of opportunity. Don’t. Ever. Give. Up.
Unfortunately when I graduated from high school, there was no celebration, no congratulations, nothing. I lived with my grandmother, uncle and aunt. I started college right after graduation. All I can say is find someone who is positive, motivated and is willing to push you through the rough times but who is also spiritual.
Work hard & play hard! Learn to be responsible & mindful of money & spending. Work on building credit, even if it’s smallest positive thing … You won’t have much without it. Spend time with your family. As we get older we often forget our parents are getting older too. Enjoy the simple things in life, you will them someday. Don’t drink unless you are aware alcohol, in my opinion, is the gateway drug. Please learn to address anything that has been traumatic to you in your younger years, you won’t be able to drink away the pain & no drug will ever heal your heart. Best wishes!
My advice to a graduate would be to stay open to new opportunities keep learning and stay connected with your passions also don’t be afraid to take risks and embrace challenges they often lead to the greatest growth
Always have respect for ithers
•Be true to yourself.
•When in doubt…. don’t.
•Listen to the peace with in your gut.
Make it a daily goal to learn something new everyday. Try something you haven’t tried. Listen more than you talk, and listening is the biggest part of learning. Being kind Costs’ nothing, so do it more. And prayer is an excellent way to solve problems. And forgiveness, is for yourself. Not them! Always try to think of the positives! Go get them!
Graduates of any level… You are passing through a gate. You may be calmy strolling through or you may be barely skreatching through the finish line with an almost disbelief that you made it. The point is- YOU DID I T.
Half of everything is showing up. The other variables include trying to comprehend the new information, trying to be teachable, trying to understand how your teachers personality and your own are an affect of how well you experience what the teacher is trying to get you to experience. The other variables, just as important, are your current life situation, the skills that underdeveloped, the possible unresolved traumas that interfere with learning that you had have, and ease or lack of ease in meeting your needs.
Everyone who made it, showed up 90% of the time. The other variables played a direct role in how much I fo you retained, how well you use it, and your perseverance.
That you made it, is enough.
Do not look back analyzing how you did.
The discipline of showing up is that one fundamental that you engaged that got you to the finish line. Keep that discipline in the least as you walk forward in life. It the cornerstone of the end of your foundational building of life. So even when things feel hard and then especially when they may be too easy… Show up. Then cross the finish line. EVERY TIME.
Congrats!!! BRAVA!
Congratulations Graduates, stay encouraged in life challenges, they will help shape your future ability to handle, managed and prioritize goals and disappointments that will arise.
Enjoy and nurture each talent and skills for they are your gift to share with the world. Trust your first instinct and prepare for the unexpected so you are never caught as victim. Love yourself enough to know nothing is impossible with GOD and determine on your side.
I totally forgot to say: After everything else, Just Enjoy your new found freedom & life. GOD Bless everyone.
You are never too old to learn something new! If you don’t learn something new every day, then you’re not paying attention to the world around you. Remember that you were not always right and you might be amazed at the things that you can learn from the people that you least expect. You’re going to have to spend a lot of years doing things that you need to do in order to have a few years of doing the things you want to do always be kind and considerate of others, respect their opinions, Help someone when you can, and you will reap benefits that you can’t imagine!
Follow your dreams, don’t let any tell you that you can’t do it. Study hard but don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get an A every time. Who will ask you what grade you got on a certain exam. Just keep moving forward and enjoy the time you spend with others and family.
To the 2024 Graduates, I first want to say, Congratulations! Then my advise would be to stay focused on what your dreams & passions are that you want to attain. We are living in a very uncertain world on today, but it does not have to pull you down in it. Find & design your destiny by setting yourself a vision board & follow it as much as possible then maybe find yourself a really good Mentor & let him or her help direct, teach & guide your future. Most of all the greatest thing you can do is to find the Lord & Saviour JESUS the Christ & as your Master he can direct your foot steps better than anyone could ever do, he is an amazing teacher & has left for each of us a comforter called the Holy Spirit that will, guide, lead, teach, & comfort you down life’s pathway to victory. I pray all your endeavors in life flourish to higher heights & deeper May the blessings of the Lord maketh you rich & addeth no sorrow. Love & Blessings to the classes of 2024. Amen.
PS: I also want to leave with everyone & that is to let you know that Life & death are in the power of your tongue. Words have power, so watch your speech & language & what you say. It may not form right now but on down the road what you may have said earlier in life may come back to hit you & you may wonder what has happened. Look back & it may be from something you have spoken & not aware until it eventually hits you. So be careful. Blessings.
Today is the first day of a new chapter in your life. Be smart be happy, take everything in live life to the fullest.
Know if your going out into the world to take a job in a ” AT WILL” State where you should know what little rights you have unless you get a contract that behooves you. ( i.e. after 20 years, they must have reason) Don’t dedicate your life to a company that will dispose of you after decades. Look it up plz.
God Bless.
You are never too old to learn something new, so always pay attention. If you don’t learn something new everyday, then you aren’t paying attention!! Believe it or not, you are not always right and the rules do apply to you!!! You are going to have to spend a lot of years doing what you NEED to in order to spend a few years doing what you WANT to… but it will be worth it!!! Be kind, considerate of others, and help someone when you can. You will reap the rewards in ways that you never expected! Congratulations Class of 2024!!

Listen to those who are wise and who have been through a lot. Don’t take out loans, and don’t get a credit card. Basically don’t spend money you don’t have.
Each one of you have a calling now is the time to pursue that I know even at your age to some of you love /relationships are very important an on your mind a lot but try to not let that get in the way of your bright future You are young you have many years ahead of you if your thoughts are dragged down with worry of yourself because you are not in a relationship and you want to be don’t worry because now you are taking the next steps of your life some new things are going to happen so if you are meant to find love in this lifetime you will one day But until then be content where ever you find yourself at be kind kindness plus sacrificing your time for others will balance out your feelings an need for love you will find happiness regardless whether or not you are in a relationship. To those of you that are in a relationship if you stay together, that is beautiful and that is great, but let’s remember you are taking your next step into the journey of life so if you and your partner go separate ways, do not be mad do not be sad. Let it go, you will find another love, focus on your future of success. You are now entering into adulthood Focus on self ,self awareness ,safety more learning and kindness all this takes you very far. Don’t become selfish remain humble and kind because you are a beginner in the journey of your adulthood. It is very rough don’t give up. Stay strong There’s always help around the corner if you need it, and always remember that if your having a bad day the next day is going to be brighter just gear your mind to make the choice to be an to remain positive and avoid negativity at all cost If you are wanting to fulfill your dreams this is a time to do it you can do it you will I have faith in you all plus look at your life POV the elder generation is counting on you and the younger generation is looking up to you each an every one of you Take each step with confidence in yourself be equal to everyone and you will go far in your journey I promise‼️ 💯💕♥️🌹💐💕🎓oh an don’t do drugs be very careful out there obey the traffic laws an don’t ever go alone in strange places always watch your drinks an remember the childhood rule, don’t accept candy from strangers well that applies in adult hood too‼️💯Love you all Love makes the world go around ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🌈♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
My advice to Graduates is, Go to College Now. Don’t wait a year or what ever. Life goes by so fast that you will be done before you know it. Save as much money as you can while you’re young. And have fun. Life will be filled with ups and down. Keep smiling no matter what.
Keep you head up an keep it moving.
Really LIVE your life! You will make mistakes, it’s a given. Find friends that make you laugh and make time to be with them and let them really know you. Listen to the people who really care for you and then make your own decisions. Live, Laugh and Love! Have a wonderful life!
I wasn’t fortunate to be raised by good parents. I wasn’t told anything. But from my experience in life . I want to say congrats to all who graduated. Go out there and see the world. Meet new people and make money doing what you love. Working for people suck! Love yourself first, never let your peers stir you in the wrong direction. If you’re going to be a follower, follow someone wealthy that wants to see you excel in your life too. Love you ,Good luck😘
Follow the Lord, live for him and he shall give you the desires of your heart.
Consider this next season in life as a blank canvas. As you begin to create the masterpiece of your life take the good with the bad and love every part. With each stroke you are creating something that represents you and what you stand for. So when you feel you’ve made a mistake (which you will make many) embrace them as part of the whole picture. Through your experiences you are able to create something beautiful! Be true to yourself, grow through your mistakes and always approach everything with love, especially towards yourself. You are capable of anything with God in Christ in you!
Congratulation, Class of 2024. I would advise all of you to work hard to get what you want out of life if you can dream it, then you can do it. Never left anything or anyone get in the way of your dreams.
Save money like crazy. Make sure you have a nest egg in savings and a 401K to retire when you get ready.
Treat everyone you meet with kindness and respect. Don’t go into debt so much that you can’t enjoy living off of your paychecks. And above all else, put God first.
Dear Graduates aka The World’s Future:
Do not ever doubt your abilities and dreams. The sky is NOT THE LIMIT…. Go beyond the sky and the stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️. The only failure to never experience is not trying. Believe in yourself and the good of the world and humanity. Education envokes change.
The best advice I’ve ever received in my 40 yrs of life experience is 2 things; as long as it doesn’t hurt you or another person, A: go ahead and try it for 5 days (1wk) by the end of the week ask yourself how it makes you feel. If it’s not for you, then you now know it’s not. But if it’s for you then awesome, continue on. B: when you are faced with any decisions, it is best to take up to 24 hrs (1 day) to pray about it, then once you pray about it you should meditate afterwards. That is where you will receive an answer. Also, if it doesn’t align with your goals and takes you off course, then simply don’t do it that and if it doesn’t cultivate peace. If u are at peace when deciding that is a good sign, you know it’s good for you. Also, don’t talk about it, be about it. Of course, unless you are setting up the plans is different. Just do it then talk about it after. Much love and abundance
Congratulations on making it this far. Remember you can go as far as you want to in life when you put your best foot forward. Put God first and everything else will fall into place. You will make mistakes, and that’s okay. Learn from those mistakes, dust yourself off and get back up to try again.
I honestly have no idea what adice I was given more than 30 years ago for HS and college, but I could imagine it included: *pay your bills on time to avoid late fees, *needs are more important then wants, *always be honest, *keep your values, morals and integrity a priority,
*try not to be wasteful, *treat others how you would like to be treated, *love and take care of yourself everyday, and ***always keep the Lord our God in first place❣️
I say congratulations on this achievement an from now on uplift yourself to another level u living life u starting that road choose wisely always continue to carry yourself with importance strive to your goals an dreams an also except listen an learn everyday u have done it now let go do it life is what u make it get your A s accomplishments ,achievements. An absolute ambers Shine
Now some parents will not agree with me on this, and that is okay.
1. It is okay not to know what you want to do as far as further education. Work for a year, or get you required classes out of the way. Some trades make make than for and 6 year degrees.
2. Always be true to you. You will meet a wide range of people, don’t conform. The best you is the true you.
3. Never forget where you came from. No matter where you live as an adult you will find home is where you grew up.
4. Never look down on anyone everyone has a past and a history you do not know. See #3 and #2.
Life is about growth.
Never stop dreaming, When you think you can’t you can, stay open to new opportunities and be willing to take risks. It’s important to step out of your comfort zone and try new things in order to grow and succeed in your career and personal life.
Grads, put God first. Maybe you either believe or you don’t, but life is short and we do not live forever on this earth. Have faith! Be careful where you hang your hat. Just follow your heart and keep true to yourself.
The imagination of children today isn’t developed like we had as kids. Act out stories. Or put on plays. Or get a trash bag and make a waterside with the roll. Keep their minds working. Study the Bible with them everyday. It is so important.
Do the best you can to be an agent, of the things that the world need’s more of like love. compassion, humility and empathy towards each other. Never lower your standard to blend in or fit in with others, make sure you stand out, like a bright light, so that others might admire your good deeds and be inspired to follow your leade. Be that example, that you hope to see in others that they may know, it’s possible!
Congratulations Grad!!! 🎊
God Bless You all!!!
Be careful out there, The world can be cruel. May you search your hearts and find the career your looking for in life.
I Pray for each of you to know Jesus for , he is the Way, the Truth and Life. John 14:6
To the grads my best advice is to work hard and build your safety net, bigger is not better and getting practical things will go along way. Build your base to keep things secure and work to have fun things later. The economy is unstable right now so being prepared is a top priority.
To the graduates of 2024, never forget that little kid with big dreams you once were. The world is a huge place. Use the knowledge you gained over the years, go achieve those dreams you had as a little kid, or achieve new dreams. Never let anyone dull your SHINE! And always go forward along the path of life but never go straight on that path. For going forward, you will endure each hurdle that comes your way, but going straight is the path that is missing all those things. Learn from the forward moving paths journey. Go out and be the best you that you can be! Congratulations!
Life is full of surprises. Don’t stress. Just breathe. If it’s meant to be, it will be. ♥️
