Recently, I asked our community how you all felt about the news that women in Alabama (and potentially across the country) are losing the ability to use in vitro fertilization (IVF) to grow their families. The outpouring of support for moms and moms-to-be was truly incredible—over 1,000 of you affirmed that parents should absolutely have access to IVF if they need it.

Here are some of your honest opinions:

“I think that this ruling is absolutely absurd and these politicians need to keep their noses out of people’s (women’s) PERSONAL business!”

I’m not sure if I understand the whole picture, but IVF is the only hope some women have to have children of their own. I wouldn’t want to be the one to take that away from someone.”

“I think the ruling was absolutely based on complete ignorance and we need to allow these treatments to go on. There are so many people that want babies that are unable to carry themselves.”

Nearly 4 in every 10 Dear Grace readers have experienced some kind of infertility and know first-hand just how painful it is to struggle to create the family we’ve dreamed of. Whether you’ve gone through IVF in the past, are in the throes of it now, or may find yourself there in the future, know that this community has your back.

Share your words of support for moms experiencing infertility to remind them that they’re not alone.

  • A friend of mine and her husband were unable to have a child and wanted to have one of their own so very much. Through IVF they now have a sweet, beautiful and well loved little girl. I don’t quite understand what is going on with these politicians focusing on removing women’s rights when there are so many terrible things going on in the world and in our country that they should be focusing on. Women are becoming even more prominent figures in politics; maybe that causes concern or intimidates some men. But, if we allow politicians that don’t seem to have anything else to do but focus on women’s rights; which by the way are the same rights that men have so they are targeting our differences: our ability to conceive, carry and deliver children. These actions will only be the beginning of what we will have to fight for. Again!

  • The ruling on IVF is unfortunate. IVF should be made available for couples who find themselves unable to create a family in the traditional was. Politicians are looking for ways to address the over population issue without going the route of other countries only allowing one child. There are other ways to address this without hurting those that need this service.

  • In my opinion No one has the right to make or in any way influence this decision for another human being in any way. This is a very personal situation and should remain as such

  • Infertility can be isolating, but if you’re on that journey right now, just know that you have a community of us cheering you on <3

  • This is absolutely heartbreaking 💔 It is truly selfish. How can they find reason to terminate the only way for people to get their chance to experience something incredible in life! I don’t understand the point to give the world a chance then just take it away!! CRUEL
